French player Alexandre Texier extended his contract for another two seasons on Wednesday with the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL.
A few hours after the signing of Pierre-Édouard Bellemare to a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning, another Frenchman has decided on his NHL future. Alexandre Texier, 21, has signed a two-year contract extension with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He will receive $3.05 million (€2.6 million) in total.
After joining the Columbus Blue Jackets for the 2018-2019 season, Habs has played 49 NHL games, scoring four goals and adding 11 assists. Columbus Blue Jackets is undergoing a rebuilding stage after a disastrous 2020-2021 season, but Texier, even at the end of his contract, has little chance of going elsewhere. Franchises take precedence over players approaching the end of their first contract, according to NHL rules.
